Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a prominent University in Kerala that has been providing quality education on par with international standards for the past 50 years. During these five decades, CUSAT has made quantum leaps in its academic pursuits and has spread its wings far and wide, encompassing the novel and emerging realms of the horizon of knowledge. This has led to various MoU’s with International Universities, International Research Partners and Central Government Agencies. CUSAT is a world-ranking university with the specific purpose of developing higher education, emphasizing post-graduate studies and research in applied science, technology, industry, humanities, and commerce. CUSAT has consecutively been figured in the Times Higher Education World Ranking since 2017. CUSAT has also found a place in the QS World University Ranking and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the India Government. CUSAT has bagged the prestigious Chancellors Award for best multidisciplinary Universities in the State three times for the years 2017, 2019 and 2020.
About the Department of Statistics
Department of Statistics, Cochin University of Science and Technology is one of the leading University departments in India and is committed to advancing knowledge and learning through teaching and research in Statistics. The Department of Statistics was established as a separate department in 1996. The Department offers M.Sc degree programme in Statistics, M.Tech in Data Science and Analytics and research leading to PhD degree. The M.Tech Data Science and Analytics programme is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India has identified this department as an advanced centre in Statistics under its 'Special Assistance Programme (SAP)' at DRS level III. The Department of Statistics was supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India under the 'Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST) scheme. The department has attracted funds from various agencies through sponsored research projects. Several international and national conferences/workshops in emerging areas of Statistics were organized by the department. The Department is actively engaged in research in the fields of both theoretical and applied areas of statistics.
