IISA 2024 Conference
More details are coming soon...
The next conference of the International Indian Statistical Association (IISA) will take place on December 27-31, 2024 on the campus of the Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala, India.
The conference program will consist of four plenary talks, 6 special invited talks, two short courses, over 100 invited sessions, many contributed sessions, and a student paper and poster competition.
One of the plenary talks is the R. R. Bahadur Memorial Lecture that will be given this year by Probal Chaudhuri from the Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics Unit at the Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata. The other three plenary talks will be given by Sudipto Banerjee from the University of California Los Angeles, Pandurang Kulkarni from Eli Lilly and Co. (Indianapolis), and Bhramar Mukherjee at the Yale School of Public Health.
The six special invited talks will be presented by Bhaswar Bhattacharya (U. Pennsylvania), Jennifer Clarke (U. Nebraska-Lincoln), Madhu Mazumdar (Mount Sinai Health Systems; NY, NY), Debashis Paul (ISI Kolkata and UC Davis), Debashree Ray (Johns Hopkins U.), and Anish Sarkar (ISI-Delhi).
In addition, two short courses will be offered for an additional fee. The first is called an Omics Data Science Workshop by Himel Mallick (Cornell) and the second is called Interpretable and Interactive Machine Learning by Kris Shankaran. The offering of these courses depends on demand and available resources.
Each invited session consists of three talks on a current and important topic. Most of these sessions have been proposed by IISA members and supporters; some were organized by members of the scientific committee.
The contributed sessions provide professional opportunities for faculty and graduate students to present their work to an international audience.
The poster and paper competition is attended chiefly by students from India and abroad. There are multiple awards to recognize the variety of contributions young researchers make.
Midway through the conference, there will be an awards ceremony followed by a banquet.
The scientific committee responsible for building the conference program consists of Bertrand Clarke (Chair, U. Nebraska-Lincoln), Kshitij Khare (Co-chair, U. Florida), Pallavi Basu (Co-chair, Indian School of Business), Sayan Banerjee (UNC Chapel Hill), Piyali Basak (Merck), Sourish Das (Chennai Mathematical Inst.), Angshuman Sarkar (GlaxoSmithLine, India), Jyotishka Datta (Virginia Tech.), Soudeep Deb (IIM Bengaluru), Tanujit Dey (Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard), Yogita Gharde (ICAR-Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Inst.), Asha Gopalakrishnan (Cochin UST), Kaushik Jana (Ahmedabad U.), Sayantee Jana (IIT Hyderabad), Karthik Sriram (IIT Ahmedabad), Poh-Ling Loh (Cambridge), Steve MacEachern (OSU), Ranjan Maitra (ISU), Debashis Mondal (Washington U.), Somabha Mukherjee (NUS), Parthanil Roy (ISI Bengaluru), Vivek Roy (ISU), Sandip Sinharay (ETS, USA), Praga Sur (Harvard), Suresh Chenji (Eli Lilly), Subasini Subha Rao (Texas A&M), Sandip Dasgupta (Pfizer), Christian Robert (U.Paris-Dauphine), Dipankar Bandyopadhyay (Virginia Commonwealth), and Moumanti Podder (IISER Pune).
We anticipate that there will be well over 400 conference attendees. So, we hope the occasion will offer numerous opportunities for each person to meet with colleagues they already know and, importantly, to meet with colleagues from all over the world they have never met before.
