The International Indian Statistical Association (IISA) announces the Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) in order to recognize distinguished members of the association who represent ‘models of excellence’ to the IISA members. Specifically, the award recognizes outstanding contributions to the theory, methods and application of statistics including probability, data science and technology (research, innovation, and leadership) by IISA members including India Chapter members. The award also recognizes innovative contribution to the statistics profession through significant impact on matters of societal concern on health, safety, environment, economic development and welfare. The LAA is the highest professional award conferred by IISA bestowed to its members.
- Eligibility: Nominee must be a life member of the association, who has contributed substantially to the growth and development of IISA as a leader at the national and international levels.
- Nomination: The nomination packages must include (a) a cover letter, (b) a current curriculum vita, (c) status of the IISA membership, (d) three letters of support (each no longer than 2 pages, 12 font size, 1.5 line spaced) that specifically comment on how the nominee meets the nomination criteria. The cover letter should highlight the nominee's major contributions in research, education, and leadership in the profession as well as in the IISA demonstrating 'the model of excellence'. All application materials should be mailed to awards@intindstat.org (pdf files preferable) by the deadline.
- Selection: The LAA selection committee is comprised of distinguished members of IISA who themselves have contributed significantly to the profession and are intimately familiar with IISA activities. The LAA is conferred every other year to identify and recognize deserving candidates from the nominations. At most one award is made in a given cycle. The LA awardee will be presented with a plaque at a ceremony during the annual IISA conference.
