IISA Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) recognizes distinguished members of the association who represent ‘models of excellence’ to the IISA members. Specifically, the award recognizes outstanding contributions to the theory, methods and application of statistics including probability, data science and technology (research, innovation, and leadership) by IISA members including India Chapter members. The award also recognizes innovative contribution to the statistics profession through significant impact on matters of societal concern on health, safety, environment, economic development and welfare. The LAA is the highest professional award conferred by IISA bestowed to its members.

IISA Service Award

The Service Award (SA) recognizes dedicated members of the association including India Chapter members who have rendered exceptional service to the IISA community, and represent ‘models of excellence’ to the IISA members. Exceptional service includes outstanding leadership by creating purpose for energetic members to be vigorously engaged in innovative IISA activities, such as chairing/co-chairing conference program committees, Hosting the IISA Conference as the local organizer with full responsibility; demonstrating vision, creativity, and dedication for identifying new members for meritorious engagement; Serving in different IISA committees in a leading role (Newsletter, Fundraising, Outreach, treasurer/Secretary/Web-lead/Executive director).

Thare are two awards, both limited to life members who have made significant contributions in multiple roles (at least three) and over the years.

  • Junior: life members aged 50 of below who have been an IISA member for at least 8 years,
  • Senior: life members over the age of 50 who have been an IISA member for at least 12 years.

Early Career Award in Statistics and Data Sciences (ECASDS)

This award recognizes and felicitates IISA members who have made outstanding contributions in all topics covered under the broad umbrella of statistics and data sciences. Awards are given in three tracks.

  • Theory: for outstanding contributions in the development of theoretical foundations in statistics and data sciences, including but not limited to research in topics of mathematics related to statistics and data sciences, theoretical statistics and theory of machine learning, theoretical computer sciences, probability theory and mathematical studies of algorithms.
  • Applications: for outstanding contributions in development of methodology, algorithms, software products in statistics and data sciences, and outstanding collaborative research activities involving data sciences and other disciplines.
  • Interdisciplinary Studies and Practice: for demonstrating outstanding level of influence in the application of an existing statistical practice, or an innovation, that has strengthened the quality and efficiency.

Nominees must be terminal degree holders (PhD, MS, BS or equivalent) who are active members of IISA for at least the past two years at the time of nomination, or a life member for any length of time. For the "Theory" and the "Applications" tracks: IISA members are eligible to be nominated for up to 13 years beyond the year of their terminal degree, or 41 years of age, whichever occurs later. For the "Interdisciplinary Studies and Practice" track: IISA members are eligible to be nominated for up to 17 years beyond the year of their terminal degree, or 45 years of age, whichever occurs later.

Student Paper and Poster Competition

  • Student Paper Competition: Held every year during the Annual IISA conference. Two student paper awards are given, one in the Theory & Probability category and the other in the Applications category.
  • Student Poster Competition: Held every year during the Annual IISA conference. Multiple awards are given.
